How long should I wear aligners?

Hello Izzy. If you are looking for faster change on your teeth, you should choose the usual aligners which should be worn for most of the day…

Since most of the world is on lock down and people stay at home, it is best to wear it most of the day. Just remove them when necessary. Remove them when you eat or brush.

You must wear your aligners every day for 20 to 22 hours in order for them to work. When you take your aligners out to eat and drink or to clean them and your teeth, make sure you put them right back in. And usually you will receive a new set of aligners every two weeks.

There are providers who offer a nighttime option. They are also effective in straightening your teeth but the results might be seen later compared to wearing it for 22 hours a day.

Aligner works by wearing a sequential series of aligners for at least 22 hours per day. Each aligner in the series is meant to be worn for its specified amount of time, usually 2 weeks per set of aligners. This is important because each aligner has as much as 0.25mm of tooth movement manufactured into it.

The fastest result can be seen when you wear it the whole day, except when you eat and brush your teeth.

The first few days that my sister had her aligners, she didn’t wear it for the whole day. She kept on removing them because of the pain. She had a hard time adjusting to her first set of trays.

Good point. I rarely go out so I think it’s okay if I choose the usual aligners that can be worn the whole day.

Good luck! :grinning: After pandemic show everyone your new smile when we won’t need masks anymore. :+1:

Now is the best time to have orthodontic treatment. After everything that’s been happening this 2020, we can go out more and smile more because we’ve been through so much this year.

Hoping the pandemic ends soon

Praying for it :relaxed:
Update us on how your treatment goes on.

I Will sure do! My consultation is next week. I’m trying to enjoy the few days left without aligner.

Enjoy it while you don’t have aligners yet. The first few days will be hard for you. Good luck!

I agree with this one. :+1: Just choose the day option @Izzy

I second the motion. :+1:

Just an update, I’ll be starting on my 3rd tray tomorrow. Adjusting to the discomfort on my first week was horrible, but I got through it. :metal:

If the pain can’t be tolerated, take over-the-counter medications. But it’s better to not get used to drinking meds. You can develop drug tolerance when you keep on taking them even if you don’t need it.

Good job! You got through the hardest part. The next trays will be easier.

Just think that the pain with aligners is far more tolerable than pain with braces
